No Day At A Theme Park Is Complete Without a USB Flash Drive

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

If you’re camera shy then you may find an outing to a Theme Park these days a little challenging! It’s pretty much impossible at any theme park to avoid having your photograph taken whilst you’re scared out of your wits or whilst you’re been drenched with water on the log flumes and other water rides.

The Theme Park operators know that these snaps make great souvenirs and they’re brilliant reminders of your day out albeit they can get a little tiresome on every ride, particularly if you’re a parent and your children insist on checking out their photos at the end of every ride and worse expect you to buy them!

If you are tempted to buy any of the photographs then the other hassle is carrying them around with you all day although some of the parks have a facility where you can order them at the end of each ride and pick them up on your way out.

Recently, some of the larger and more “switched on” theme parks have introduced an option to buy the ride photographs on a printed USB flash drive. This is a great idea because it’s far easier and a lot more convenient to carry around a small USB flash drive with you as you go around the park. Then, at the end of each ride if you see a photo you like you can simply hand over your flash drive and get the images copied onto it!

There are tons of different types of USB flash drives available to theme park operators but it’s no surprise that one of the more popular models is the USB wristband – these are easy to carry, easy to use, they’re fun, they appeal to parents and kids alike and they’re just that little bit different.

Photographs that are digitally stored on the USB drives are easy to print off on your own colour printer or alternatively uploaded to Social Networking sutes like Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr. Or, you could just email them around to your friends and family. OK, you could do the same with printed photos but you have to first go through all the hardship of scanning the photographs and uploading them onto your PC or Mac before you can do this.

Unfortunately there are only a few theme parks in the UK offering this solution but where it is available it’s proving popular so expect to see it adopted in much greater numbers pretty soon.

If you’re a theme park operator and you’re looking for a provider of the USB wristbands or any other style of USB memory stick then you might consider the team at USB2U. Established in 2002 USB2U has years of experience in the supply of all types of promotional and branded USB memory sticks including those supplied to Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Wickstead Park.

Portfolio of Branded USB Memory Sticks

If you’re thinking of buying some branded USB memory sticks for your company, your school or your university and you’re in need of some inspiration then check out the USB2U Flickr pages.

On these pages you’ll find various different collections and sets of high quality images of branded memory sticks including the standard twister model, leather flash drives, USB credit card versions and some great examples of custom (fully bespoke) USB memory sticks.

The beauty of looking at these images is that they show you what real printed, engraved or embossed USB sticks look like when they produced. These are not “Photoshop” images created by some clever graphics guy but real photographs of jobs produced on behalf of customers.

There are hundreds of photographs in the collection including images of the range of presentation and gift boxes that the USB memory sticks can be supplied in. Some of the presentation boxes have been printed which again helps if this is an option you are considering.

The photographs help you to see just how good the print quality can be on these USB sticks but the quality of the finished product is dependent upon the quality of the original artwork supplied. To achieve this finish you need to be able to supply high-resolution images in either .ai (Adobe Illustrator) or .eps format and ideally the artwork needs to be vectorised. If you’re not sure what you have or what you need to supply just speak to your supplier’s graphic designer (assuming they have one)

The credit card USB flash drives shown on the Flickr pages also illustrate how much extra space you have to work with on these particular products. They’re ideal if you have a particularly large image or logo you want to print or an image that has lots of complex gradients and colours. As you’ll see from the examples combining a complex image with a phone number, a website URL and a strap line is easy. Credit Card USB’s are only marginally more expensive that standard USB flash drives and they work the same way so they’re strongly recommended for complex artwork jobs.

The USB2U Flickr pages are updated regularly so it’s worth bookmarking the page and checking back every now and then.

Thrills and Spills All Captured on A Branded USB Flash Drive

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

Theme parks are not only a great day out for all the family but in these days of doom and gloom they’re a great anti-depressant. Whilst the queues can, at certain times, be “challenging” theme parks are still a huge favourite with everyone and the parks themselves just seem to get better and better.

Long gone are the days of tired and rickety rides and poor on-park facilities. Today, there seems to be a rolling program of investment in new rides and attractions in an every increasing attempt to lure more of us to the parks and to extend our stay(s) by staying at hotels on the park site(s).

The investment seems to be working. Despite the current economic uncertainty we’re all facing attendance levels at theme parks around the world have held up pretty well with around 200 million people expected to pass through the parks turnstiles this year alone.

The innovation at theme parks is not restricted to the rides either. Anyone who’s ever been to a theme park will have been photographed pulling all sorts of embarrassing faces and poses on the rides as they hurtle around the track. Typically these photographs are available to purchase from the kiosks at the end of the ride or from a collection point as you leave the park.

The photo’s serve as a great memento of your day at the park and they’re very popular but for many the prospect of carry around relatively large photographs all day or taking care of them on the journey home is now one they relish. Undoubtedly lots of enthusiastic park goers will have purchased their photo’s from the ride kiosks only to subsequently get them drenched on the water rides or bashed and battered on the extreme thrill rides!

Some Theme Parks have offered the photo’s on a CD or DVD but again these are not the smallest or easiest things to carry around with you all day and even when printed up they’re not the most attractive item. An alternative that is now beginning to find favour with some of the more innovative park operators is a branded USB flash drive.

Branded USB Flash Drives are small, discrete, holds loads of photographs, can be slipped into a pocket very easily or attached to a bag or belt with a keyring or lanyard. The flash drives can be printed with the logo of the theme park and they can be uploaded with all the photographs from the kiosk around the park quickly and easily.

Flash drives are work really well as an on-going advertisement for the park. Its typical that once the photographs have been transferred from the flash drive and stored on a home PC or printed that the flash drive will continue to be used as a “flash drive”. This in turns ensures on-going brand recall and exposure and hopefully generates repeat business to the park!
