Can You Get Credit When Buying USB Memory Sticks

Wednesday, September 21st, 2011

Promotional USB memory sticks printed with a company logo and pre-loaded with sales brochures, data sheets and press releases are all the rage at the moment and look set to replace CD’s and DVD’s and in some circumstances to replace printed brochures.

USB Credit Cards

USB Credit Cards

The price of promotional USB memory sticks has fallen dramatically over the past couple of years whilst the amount of memory you can get for your money continues to increase. These factors have contributed to a greater uptake of USB sticks but it’s the convenience and ease of use of USB sticks coupled with the fact that customers love them that has really fuelled their uptake.

Despite the fall in the price of flash drives a typical order value can still run to hundreds and in some cases thousands of pounds and most suppliers will insist on payment with any order or at best payment before any order is delivered. Whilst making the payment might not be a problem (particularly if you have a company credit or debit card) sometimes internal approval and payment processes can conflict with the timeframes you need to achieve on delivery.

At USB2U we are happy to accept request for credit terms on any orders including first orders (irrespective of the

value) and providing the credit checks we undertake are passed (most companies do) then any order for USB memory sticks will be supplied on 30-day payments terms starting from the date we send the sticks out and not the day any order is placed with us. This approach allows our customers to focus on getting organised for their events, shows or press launches and allows them to leave their finance teams to handle the payment.

Don’t forget that in addition to Free Credit (subject to approval) on every order for USB flash drives we also offer free 4 colour printing, free data-loading (up to 100MB), free gift boxes, free lanyards and free UK delivery. We also think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by our prices which are some of the most competitive in the industry! Interested? Then give us a call on our Freephone number 0800 008 7079 or fill out a quote request on our web site.

Get USB Sticks Printed With Your Logo In 48Hrs

Monday, September 5th, 2011

If you find yourself up against a really tight deadline for some printed USB memory sticks then don’t panic because if you have your artwork ready to go then we can supply a range of different USB flash drives from stock and get them printed and delivered in only 48hrs!

You will pay a premium for this Rush Service simply because of the higher costs of printing in the UK. The core cost of USB sticks are the same whether you need them in a hurry or have a little more time for us to ship them in for you from our factory in China.

USB2U Rush-Service

USB2U Rush-Service

UK print is charged “per colour” and there is a set-up fee for each colour as well so it’s not really a service that makes sense for very small quantities simply because the fixed set-up costs have to be amortised over a small number of sticks.

In an ideal world you really need to allow around 10 working days for any order of customised USB memory sticks because this way you can take full advantage of the cheaper costs of getting the sticks printed at our factory in China and you’ll get a much wider choice of USB sticks to choose from.

The models of USB sticks that we tend to hold in the UK ready for “rush printing” are the Twister, the Chic and the Trident and we’ll normally hold these in a range of standard colours which typically include as a minimum black, blue and red.

The most popular size of flash drive requested by our customers is 1Gb or 2GB so these tend to be the sizes that we carry but if you want something different it’s always worth checking what we have available.

Chic, Tridet, Probe and Twister Flash Drives

Chic, Tridet, Probe and Twister Flash Drives (Price exclude Rush Service)

Most suppliers of USB flash drives won’t entertain pre-loading data on “rush jobs” but if you have your data ready and it’s less than say 100MB we’ll try and support any request to load this onto your USB sticks as well.

So, if you’ve been let down by another supplier, or perhaps you’ve just left things really late give us a call and we’ll do all we can to help you with a solution.

Give Out Your Wedding Photos On A USB Memory Stick

Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

If you’re looking to tie to knot any time soon then you’re probably already stressed out trying to organise everything from the venue, the catering, the guest list, the invites, the photographer and the wedding dress. Add to this the music, the DJ, the cake and the flowers and it’s pretty easy to understand why they should offer logistics and people management training to anyone thinking of getting married!

As technology marches on you’ll also have to face some decisions about how the photographs of your big day are supplied to you and potentially supplied to your family and guests. We’ve already seen 35mm film cameras abandoned by professional wedding photographers in favour of Digital SLR cameras and now we’re beginning to see a shift in the supply of the photos from paper prints to USB Memory Sticks.

For some people you’ll never be able to beat the feeling of sitting down with friends and family and passing around the wedding album and collectively reminiscing about the day. But, in an age where people increasingly live out their lives on-line through social networking sites like Facebook it’s useful to have the same photos supplied digitally so that they can be “uploaded” for all of your friends to see.

Wedding Photos On A USB Memory Stick

The beauty of having your Wedding Day portfolio supplied on a USB flash drive is that you can print your photos out at home (as many times as you want), you can attach the photos to emails and send them to friends and family or you can upload them to your favourite blog or social network site(s). Photos supplied in this way give you much more control and flexibility and you’re not sacrificing on the quality of the photographs just how they are delivered.

The USB flash drives don’t have to be standard “shop bought” models either, instead, they can be personalised USB flash drives that are supplied in an attractive gift box and both the flash drive and box can be printed with details of the wedding day and the name of the bride and groom!

Some couples are now buying enough personalised flash drives to enable them to give them out to all of the guests at the wedding.  Each USB memory stick can be pre-loaded with either the whole wedding portfolio or tailored so that each guest or family member gets a collection of photos that is relevant to them. Loading additional photos of the bride and groom as children and during their courtship as well as photos from the stag and hen nights is something that’s also proving popular.

In the short term we’re unlikely to see the death of the traditional wedding day photo album but digital options are certainly making an impact.

Colour Matched USB Memory Sticks

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

One of the best and simplest ways to really make your branded USB memory sticks stand out from the crowd is to get the body shell of the memory stick colour matched to one of the primary colours from your logo. Most USB memory

USB March Offer

USB2U March Offer

sticks are available in a small range of standard colours (usually primary colours like red, blue and yellow) and whilst they look fine printed there is no denying that a custom, pantone matched body shell that compliments the printed logo looks better and leaves a stronger lasting impression.

Colour matching or Pantone Matching as it is sometimes called involves mixing inks into the plastic case of the memory sticks during the manufacturing process. As such the finished shells tend to be specific to a particular customer and therefore typically carry a price premium – not least because of the additional effort and material involved in producing the USB shells in short production runs.

During March, USB2U are running a special promotion and offering FREE Pantone Matching of USB Memory sticks – all you have to do to qualify is order at least 100 USB sticks and specify the colour you want them produced in when you place the order. If you’re not sure what colour shell to choose then don’t worry because they have an experienced in-house design team that can work up lots of different examples for you to choose from.

To make things really interesting USB2U have also combined the FREE Colour Matching offer with a FREE Data-loading service (up to 100MB) and they’ll even pack your printed, pantone matched and data-loaded USB memory sticks in a cute little gift box for you!

So, if you are looking for some branded or printed USB memory sticks during March then get yourself over to USB2U and get yourself a quote for some colour matched sticks – you won’t regret it.

Metal USB Credit Cards – A Professional Solution

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

The big trend at the moment in the branded USB flash drive market is the rise in popularity of the USB credit card. For the last few years the vast majority of flash drives that are printed up with a company logo or brand have been the standard “rectangular” models. These come in a number of different flavours with memory sticks like the “Twister” or the “Chic” being the most commonly requested and purchased.

These standard models are popular because they’re inoffensive, they have broad general appeal, they are available from a wide number of suppliers and they all look good when printed up with a logo. Their popularity means they are produced in very large numbers so they’re also some of the cheapest USB flash drives on the market today. In essence they are the “easy” option and it’s understandable why they are popular.

The popularity of these products does however dilute the impact when they are handed out. A few years ago handing out a Twister USB flash drive with a logo printed on would typically be something new and innovative and for the recipient it’s likely to have been the first memory stick they’ll have been given or picked up at a seminar or conference. Today for people these drives are “two a penny”. If you’re a regular conference, seminar, show or press event attendee then you’ll likely to be offered standard flash drives on a fairly regular basis.

If the intent is just to disseminate information in a convenient and portable format then “so what” you might say but, if the intent is to do this, whilst at the same time, creating some genuine gratitude and affinity to your company then there are better USB flash drive products for the job. One such example is the metal USB credit card.

Metal USB Credit Cards

Metal USB Credit Cards

Metal USB credit cards are a little more expensive than the general USB drives typically purchased as a promotional item but they deliver the “wow” factor that standard models struggle to achieve. The reason is that these credit card models are the same size and thickness as a regular bank card which given the function they perform is incredible, particularly when you consider an 8GB version can store hundreds of thousands of documents! The metal versions are also very solid and tactile and feel like a top quality product and a product that has very high-perceived value. They are something that the recipient will want to not only keep but also show off about.

So, next time you are in the market for a USB flash drive you might just want to get some quotes for a Metal USB credit card. Expect them to be more expensive than standard models but not greatly so and despite the increased cost they are worth the extra spend.

Pantone Matched USB Memory Sticks

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

If you’re in the market for some branded USB memory sticks for your company and you want your logo printed on the sticks then one option is to get the body of the USB stick pantone matched to a primary colour from your logo.

Pantone matching is simply a way to define a particular colour and reproduce that same colour time and time again to

Pantone Matched Twister

Pantone Matched Twister

the same level of accuracy (albeit the material the colour is printed onto can have a bearing on the finished result). It’s a technique that is commonly used across the design and print industry and the use of “pantone matched” printing is a way to ensure consistency of a company’s brand irrespective of who is producing the printed product.

Pantone matching is commonly used in two distinctly different ways when customised USB memory sticks are produced:

  1. The colours of any logo, brand or design that is printed onto the USB sticks are typically defined by the customer(s) in terms of pantone colour. This ensures a high degree of accuracy when the sticks are printed in the factory. Where pantone colours can’t be supplied the colours are matched on a “best match” basis and the accuracy of the finished article is very much in the hands of the printer. Whilst most printers have years of experience to draw upon and will typically produced good results on a “best match” basis there is always an element of risk when working (printing) this way.
  2. Rather than buy USB flash drives in the standard colours (typically black, white, red, blue or silver) it’s possible to get them manufactured so that the body shell of the USB drives is an exact pantone match to any colour you want. This option involves mixing inks with the plastic when the fabrication is done to achieve an exact pantone matched body shell. The end results look stunning albeit the trick is to ensure you choose the colour of the body shell well so that it contrasts or works well with the logo printed onto the USB stick. On the Twister models where the logo is printed onto the “clip” that “twists” around it’s usual to match the body of the twister to one of the primary colours from the printed logo.
USB Pantone Matching

USB Pantone Matching

Pantone matching not only ensures accurate reproduction of colours but when it is used to produce a customised body shell the results lift the finished product from a “standard” USB flash drive to something that is unique. Whilst these “pantone matched” USB sticks are not truly bespoke sticks because they use a standard factory design then do illustrate that a significant amount of effort and thought has been put into their production.

Pantone matching of the body shell is only available on a limited range of USB memory sticks. Depending on the quantity ordered the incremental cost is relatively small but the results certainly justify it.

Showcasing the Mono Twister USB Flash Drive

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

Its an over used phrase but in the case of the Twister USB flash drive its worth using because it really is difficult to improve on perfection. The Twister (also known as the Swivel drive or Rotate drive) is the undisputed king of the branded flash drive market outselling all other products by some margin.

Its universal appeal and staying power (it has been around for about 6-7 years) is down to several key factors including its relatively small size, the fact that it has no cap to lose and because it takes print really well. It can also of course come in a range of colours including pantone matched body shells so any brand or logo can be made to really stand out against the flash drives body shell colour.

Black black twister flash drive

Mono Twister USB - Black

So, as we said, whilst it is difficult to improve on perfection we think we’ve nudged it forward a little with our new series of Mono Twister USB flash drives. These black and white versions of the Twister come with black and white “clips” (the sections that swivel) creating a complete black or white twister drive.

Visually the black/black or white/white versions look stunning particularly when combined with a strong brand or logo as you can see with these examples produced for Maxfactor and Magners.

If you keep the print to one colour (printing white on black as per the Maxfactor example) you also keep the print costs down to a single colour without compromising on the overall effect.

Of course just like the standard Twister model the Mono Twister can be

Twister USB Magners

Twister Black Magners

supplied with a free gift box (white or black as you prefer) or a free lanyard, again white or black, as you prefer. We’ll even pre-load up to 100MB of data onto the flash drives free of charge.

So, whilst we, and our customers love the classic Twister flash drive we’re excited about the new Mono version and the opportunities it opens up. If you want to see how your brand or logo might look on one of these new models just give us a call or send us your artwork and our design team will get back to you with a no obligation mock-up.

How can Universities can get best ‘bang for buck’ when buying Branded USB Memory sticks?

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

The most progressive universities understand that Branded Memory sticks are an ideal vehicle to allow students and staff to store and transport at university and between halls / other residents.

So what are the major advantages for Universities who embrace Branded USB Memory sticks:

USB for Universities

  • It reduces the cost of printing and transporting paper, so it’s environmentally friendly.
  • Ideal vehicle for sending prospectus out.
  • Allows staff to take information and coursework home to work on, make changes / mark and upload to the university network.
  • Students can back up coursework that they complete off site or at university  as a safety net.
  • The USB Memory sticks can be branded with the university logo to add greater affinity with the university.
  • Passwords can be added to the Customised Memory sticks so if the data is sensitive it can be made secure.
  • Data can be loaded and protected on the Branded USB Memory sticks. So the university could consider providing all the standard university docs, e.g. university term dates, policies, link to web sites etc.
  • A unique serial number can be printed to the side of the Branded USB Memory stick to allow any lost memory sticks to be easily reunited with their owner.
  • A strip can also be added to the Branded USB Memory stick so users can add their names.
With the current scrutiny of university budgets and horror stories in the media of poor procurement from universities / LEAs, what should you consider when purchasing Branded USB memory sticks.
  • Try to obtain three quotes from established UK suppliers
  • Ensure that you are offered a line of credit, you should not ne required to make any upfront payments.
  • A free sample of the proposed USB Memory stick should be requested.
  • Ensure that the chips in the Branded Memory sticks are new and not recycled or reconditioned.
  • Consider contacting other local universities and purchasing a larger order with different logos, as economies of scale would definitely drive the price down.
  • Explore getting a local company to sponsor the production of the memory sticks and in return you can add their logo / contact details to the back.
  • Why not consider a totally unique Customised Memory stick in any design that fits the university.

The benefits of Branded USB Memory sticks combined with students appetite for new technology has lead to many leading universities embracing USB Memory Sticks as an essential tool for learning.

USB Memory Stick Accessories – don’t forget them!

USB Accessories

A memory stick is a great way to transport data but they can easily find the bottom of your pocket or bag. It is a good idea to remember that USB2U can provide a range of suitable accessories and packaging to help avoid losing that important little stick! There are many different options of accessories and packaging available such as, lanyards, key rings, carabiners and USB extension cables.

USB lanyard

Lanyards

Lanyards are probably the most popular choice with many of our customers. They can be attached securely to the USB drive and placed around the users neck – a great idea to avoid losing vital data!. And while lanyards are typically worn around the neck, it’s not unusual for them to be hanging out of pockets or belt loops, wrapped around as wrist straps or attached to and hanging from many other things! Lanyards can also be branded with your logo or message.

USB keyring

Keyrings

Key Rings are also a useful accessory to consider. Like lanyards they can be attached to the USB drive and in turn attached to your keys meaning you will never be without your memory stick and data! They are available in different sizes and are more robust than lanyards.

USB carabiner

Carabiners

Our carabiner’s are fast becoming a favourite. These function like a climber’s carabiner and can be attached to the hook of your branded USB. They’re also great for attaching onto bags or laptop cases. Unlike most small key rings they are also big enough to carry a brand or logo.

USB extension cable

USB Extension Cables

USB extension cables are worth considering if your PC box is located under your desk. You simply plug the extension into the USB drive of your PC and feed the cable onto your desktop. You’ll never have to struggle to plug your branded USB drive underneath your desk again!

All of the above mentioned accessories can be supplied with your order of branded USB memory sticks and are available in different colours, shapes and sizes. If you are not sure about which would suit you best please contact USB2U where an Account Manager will be happy to discuss your options.
